Steelband

When planning an event using a steelband it is important to remember that size matters. The larger the event the bigger the band you will need. For engagements outdoors, it is important to remember that a two or three piece steelband is not ideal. Steelpans are acoustic instruments and even with great quality sound equipment more instruments will give you a bigger sound

Booking Time

The booking time is the scheduled time you need the band to perform. Remember, if it's a three or more hour performance the band will need to take intermittent breaks. If the time is limited, try to book the band as close to their performance time as possible.

Location

It is important to know the size of the space you have allotted for the band. If the space will be shared with a dance floor, the band you consider should be able to fit that space with room for dancing. If the event is outdoors, it is necessary to have the steelband under a tent or any covered area, in the event of inclement weather or direct sunlight. Steelpans are sensitive to the sun; direct exposure will cause distortion to the sound of the instrument. Therefore it is necessary to make accommodations for outdoor events.
